Water Mini Golf
by Adventure Golf Services
AGS has designed the first-of-its-kind interactive wet mini golf that is played on a splash pad. This completely new miniature golf on a splash pad concept takes the game itself and the players into an interactive water environment. SplashGolf™ also has the unique ability to be "dual-purpose" utilized for a "dry golf" environment, by either simply turning off the water and putting over a rubber surface or with a pre-cut putting turf laid on top of SplashGolf™ surface. Operators can monetize with splash pad mini golf in the summer months and guests can enjoy the SplashGolf™ game in cooler months during the Spring and Fall shoulder seasons.
SplashGolf™ is a revolutionary new product that fills the age-old need in waterparks to balance out both passive and active water attractions and pulls in all age groups from toddlers to older children and seniors. Spray miniature golf is a new activity that can divert / shrink queue lines at other attractions and for competitions and tournaments.
SplashGolf™ can be:
- An amenity as part of pay-one-price
- An amenity for resorts, hotels, waterparks, city/municipal parks and other entertainment venues
- A revenue producer with separate paid admission
- Dual purpose use - can be used wet or dry

First SplashGolf Installed on Cruise Ship Norwegian Epic
October 26, 2015 - Traverse City, MI - The first SplashGolf™ retrofit to an existing splash pad was installed in early October on Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship, Norwegian Epic in October, 2015. Dubbed as a "water mini golf on a splash pad", SplashGolf™ takes the players and game itself into an interactive water environment.
“SplashGolf™ combines two age-old fun attractions --splash pads and mini golf-- into one completely new, interactive water based game attracting all age groups for more family fun.
“We’re thrilled to install the first SplashGolf onboard Norwegian Epic. This exciting and interactive water activity is more inclusive of all family members, and not just toddlers, as the space was originally used,” states Scott Lundmark President, Adventure Golf Services.
The new SplashGolf will be part of the ship’s Aqua Park, which features two pools, five hot tubs, a kid's pool and three multi-story water slides including the the 200-foot Epic Plunge, the only bowl slide at sea.
SplashGolf™ has taken Adventure Golf in unanticipated directions reveals Mike Arnold, Vice President Project Management. "As we convert Norwegian Epic’s exisiting splash pad area into a five hole course, it’s clear that other retrofits, whether on land or sea, can feature customized course sizes depending on the space available. Norwegian Epic’s SplashGolf™ has the same special water effects that are used on the nine hole models where the players get wet and the miniature golf balls go in crazy directions. “
SplashGolf™ has undergone several design iterations as Adventure Golf developed a working model, according to Arne Lundmark CEO and chief designer. “This R & D work transferred over to all models. One major issue was to create a new miniature golf ball that would respond to impact with water so the water can deflect it in other directions such as towards or away from the golf hole cup. This is not as easy as it seems. Tradional miniature golf balls are basically solid objects, which easily pass through a water splash zone.
“The winner for SplalshGolf is a larger ball that is filled but floats. It is light weight and comes in four vibrant colors. To accommodate the larger ball our company has fabricated larger hole cups to make the game even more fun,” comments Lundmark.
The company’s next hurdle was to redesign certain fountain nozzles called “Side Shooters”, to create low horizontal sprays across the fairways and greens which impact the ball and pushes it in those directions. Other water nozzles create sprays that are random, intermitant or all at the same time. This is the same concept as when a player tries to putt the ball through randomly spurting fountains and water features that blast your ball from side to side, help push it over a ramp or push the ball over to another part of the green."
"SplashGolf™ is offered in three models: 5,800 SF for outdoor use; 2,800 SF for either indoor or outdoor applications; and a 2,800 SF model for cruise ships,” states Scott Lundmark president, Adventure Golf Services.

SplashGolf™ - Cruise Ships
Water Mini Golf on a Splash Pad
Traverse City, MI...SplashGolf™- Cruise Ships, the first interactive, wet miniature golf course for the cruise industry is announced by Adventure Golf Services, "We previously introduced a larger version of SplashGolf for water parks and other venues at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) annual trade show in November 2014," states Scott Lundmark president.
The response has been very positive from owner / operators as well as water park builders and design firms so we moved our timetable forward to announce the SplashGolf™ - Cruise Ship model prior to the Cruise Shipping Miami trade show in March. SplashGolf™ - Cruise Ships has nine mini golf holes, fabricated on a patented panel system, with special water effects on each golf hole, all of which are mounted on an approximately 3,000 square foot splash pad.
“SplashGolf™ brings not only the player but also the game itself into an interactive water environment for a completely new and fun experience. It is a wet mini golf game that can be played by all family members the same as traditional miniature golf course....the difference is the water, the sprays, the fountains, the water jets are all very much interactive with the players and the golf ball.”
Adventure Golf also announces an introductory "Lunch and Learn" design seminar which will travel to the offices of cruise ship companies who express interest in the splash pad mini golf product, according to Scott Lundmark.
“SplashGolf™ is fun, wet and entertaining,” comments Arne Lundmark CEO and chief designer. “This is a game that the player never knows what is going to happen to the golf ball and where it will go. On several golf holes, players may blast the mini golf balls around with water cannons as the other player tries for a hole-in-one or actually spray the other player while they attempt their putt...what fun! Playing the water vortex hole leads to surprise as the water spins the ball where it may come out on one of two different areas of the green.
“I personally like the reverse ball-run hole where players shoot uphill toward a water source where the ball goes into one of two water sluices and passes back behind the player on the tee to a green. On the slalom course hole players must putt the ball through a series of random spurting fountains. There are additional fun golf holes, such as the Pachinko hole, jumping the ball through a water screen, navigating the gusher, and splash down with two side horizontal water blasts. A very surprising golf hole is where the water grabs the ball and pushes it up and over a ramp to the green.”
The patented panels and the splash pad mini golf base are unique in the industry, according to Mike Arnold vice president project management. "This is a flow-through model using treated and heated sea water that meets health code standards for this environment. A recirculating model will also be available. We already use this same panel system on cruise ships where we install miniature golf, putting greens, Bocce, Shuffleboard and Croquet courts, and the GolfCourt Hitting Bay so this is not new technology and our crews install these products all over the world. The 3,000 square foot size will easily fit on decks reserved for sports and play activities.”
